An educational seismic table (earthquake simulator) is operating at the Natural History Museum of Crete, offering visitors the opportunity to learn about earthquakes and experience, in a safe environment, simulations of real earthquakes.

The table is located in a specially designed hall at the -2 level of the exhibition hall, where information about the phenomenon and the seismicity of eastern Mediterranean is presented. Visitors can experience specially designed programs in Greek and English, prepared in collaboration with the National Organization for Seismic Protection (OASP) of Greece, about protection measures and good practices against the earthquakes and simultaneously feel earthquakes up to 6 Richter in magnitude.
From October and onwards relative educational programs, adjusted for various age groups of children, will be implemented.

Анализът на нуждите е изследване, направено в сътрудничество с всички партньори, описващо рисковете, настоящата ситуация, добрите и лошите практики и нуждите, която всяка от участващите страни е идентифицирала в анализа си върху двете големи природни бедствия – земетресенията и вулканите. Анализът е подготвен на базата на проучване на данни и документи, проведена анкета, видео интервюта, идентифициране на наличен опит и знания от страна на експерти и литература.

Анализът е важна предпоставка за подготовката на насоките и образователните дейности и продукти. В хода на тяхната реализация от съществено значение беше проучването на съществуващите знания, местни политики и ситуации, както и да се идентифицират нуждите на всеки от партньор по темите за превенцията, повишаването на осведомеността за природните бедствия и справянето с детски емоции по време на тях.
