International Day of Disaster reduction
October 13th is the International Day for Disaster Reduction. This year the Day is dedicated to Children and Young People and the Partnership of RACCE project will actively participate at the celebration activities.
RACCE is a project funded by EU Civil Protection financial instrument aiming to palliate children emotions in case of an earthquake or volcanic disaster.
The International Day celebration this year fits perfect to the aims of our project and thus it has been decided that our partners will be actively involved. The activities to be implemented can be found in the following table:

Learning how to face the seismic hazard

~ Hosting of Day’s logo at Museum’s website ~ On October 13, all day the participation of children in the earthquake awareness programs of the Museum will be free of charge. ~ Lecture and presentation on “EARTHQUAKES – The Earth in movement: The big Japan earthquake” ~ Guided tour at the earthquakes temporary exhibition “Earthquake hazard in the Aegean” ~ Educational activity on Earthquake recording. Observing the on-line actual recordings in the seismograph installed at the Museum. Presentation on the precaution measures to be taken in case of an earthquake. ~ Simulation of the Japan earthquake and other major earthquakes from around the world at the Museum’s earthquake simulator (seismic table) and learning how to face an earthquake. ~ Projection of the documentary “March 2011: The earthquakes Japan earthquake and tsunami”.
